Hybrid work has become a common thing, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. With some employees working from home and some working in person, it’s important to make sure that employees on both sides of the coin are collaborating efficiently and effectively. Being able to blur the line between in-person workers and remote workers is an important thing to do in the modern-day hybrid work environment. Zoom has become a common tool for hybrid work environments, and this post will go over some Zoom features that can promote positive virtual collaboration in any business.

Zoom Features That Will Level Up Your Meetings

Immersive View: This feature allows you to put all the attendees of your meeting into a single virtual background rather than the standard sidebar tiles. With everyone in one virtual background, they are able to collaborate and discuss in a cohesive virtual space. You can even create your own background to complement what your business setting usually is.
Blurred background: This feature is especially useful for remote workers. The blurred background keeps your face centered and clear while blurring the background to avoid any potential distractions for the in-person workers in the meeting.
Powerpoint as a virtual background: This feature allows you to put your Powerpoint presentation as your background, and you can even have your webcam image of yourself in the bottom corner while you present. This feature gives a more immersive feel to the in-person workers watching a presentation from somebody at home, or vice versa.
Live closed captions: This feature is incredibly useful for businesses where multiple languages are spoken by the workers. Live transcripts will help workers keep up with discussions and contributions, and they’ll retain more information by being able to re-read what was said if they need. If there’s poor audio quality during parts of the meeting, the transcripts will alleviate these issues too.
Clip and share highlights: This feature uses Grain. Grain can help you repurpose certain content for your business’s social media page, create live training videos for new employees, or create a recap of a previous meeting. All your content-sharing goals can be achieved with Grain. It can capture quotes, mark important moments, and share them. You must have the Grain desktop app to use this feature.
Suppress background noise: We can’t control what’s going on in the background of a remote worker’s house, but this Zoom feature can help alleviate any background noise distractions. With the new in-app feature, you can adjust your audio setting to compensate for background noise.
Zoom app search: Useful messages and documents can be dropped in Zoom calls. Now the Zoom desktop app has a universal modern search interface that lets you search for and find important files or messages.
Enhanced data privacy: There is always a risk that a Zoom meeting has been compromised. After all, it’s not like you can just close the door like you can for an in-person meeting. Zoom has had standard end-to-end encryption for its meetings, but it has been enhanced to ensure privacy for videos and messages. No worker, remote or in-person, should have to deal with compromised data privacy, and Zoom is doing everything it can to ensure its users with the right protection for all of their virtual collaboration.
